My grandmother “Emma Manson” was raised in Lovelady and was
brought up by the Mainers or Mainors. We visited the family that
raised her years ago. Lovelady was always a warm and caring
town. She told us nice stories of her childhood there.
We look forward to seeing the results of all your work.

This is all just amazing. My grandfather (W.J. “Bill” Turney) and all of his sisters graduated from Lovelady HS. I can remember driving from the family home in Weldon, through Loveladay on our way to Crockett for church. Grandpa would “swing by” the Old Gym and point out different sites to us as we went.

I grew up on Read Street in Lovelady and used to play basketball in the Gym when I was a kid, in the late 70s early 80s. I was sad to see them tear down the school but glad to see they saved the Gym. Go Lions!!!

Thank you Mrs.Jones for your very infomative story.My aunt,now 83y/o,graduated from Lovelady High.My mother grew up in LoveLady until they moved to Belott when she was 7y/o.She loves Lovelady even to this day.My mom was a Creath but all her relatives in LoveLady are Smiths & Baskins.Again,thank you & God Bless.David Rice

The Lovelady Old Gym is the only building in the South end of Houston County large enough to hold the events that are held here. The South end of Houston County is sometime forgotten when county events are planned.
